October Notes

The resources are listed on above. The member info list should be completed by each person in the group. If any person is not a member in the resource groups above let Ann know.

The Tie.net group in diigo is now up and running. Everyone is welcome to add to this diigo group.

Collaboration Day - The next time a survey needs to be completed to tie the day to Act 48. Ann is asking anyone who attended the Thinkfinity to please complete the survey. The following items need to be adjusted for the next collaboration day. A PPid needs to be added to the Act 48 site. It was suggested that 2 or 3 computers can be set up at the registration desk and people can look them up. In addition, people attending need to sign out on the Act 48 system in order to receive Act 48.

Unless someone needs a bill each time, Sue is going to wait and send a bill in the end for all 4 days. If people don't show up a bill is still going to be sent because they were counted for lunch. Checks should be made out to the York County School of Technology.

Karen will set up the survey in survey monkey for the next collaboration day. Ann will send her the survey used before and it can be tweaked.

Michelle L. offered to help Marge with the breakfast and she will arrive early to assist her. In the media center if the numbers are small enough the participants will be moved to the front of the media center. Ann asked that in the morning one promo person from each strand to give a quick overview of the information in that strand. This will help to clarify what is going on in each section for the participants.

Large directional signs are needed to help point participants to some of the rooms such as the auditorium. Those not in sessions can be hall monitors to help direct the participants. It was asked if we need a map or schedule printed out and it was decided that participants can use the map on the computer or we can have persons in the halls to help monitor and direct. It was suggested that for those schools that are not CFF it may be helpful to do a quick review in the morning before we begin for those who are not familiar with the site. Ann suggested that everyone get participants to join prior to arrival to make it easier for them to get on to the wiki the day of. Each coach is asked to email their own people prior to attending reminding them of the PPid, to join the wiki and any other details. Sue is going to send out an email to all coaches reminding them about the email.

November 6 is the Friday before so any registration changes should be in by this date.

The event slide show is on the wiki at the bottom in a tool called MOONK.

It was discussed that we need a glossary for the vocabulary for those teachers who are not familiar with the tools and the vocabulary associated with them. It was mentioned that there was not enough time for Thinkfinity. It was suggested that there may be a page added to the wiki with a checklist of things that participants need to do before they attend.

It was suggested that the groups are split so that there are beginner presentations and advanced presentations. It was suggested that adding a strand for the beginners in the morning may be the best way to address the needs of the teachers just getting started. It was decided that a session for beginners will be added in the morning. The following members will handle this presentation: Michelle Krill, Kristen Henning, Sandy Benedict, Kathryn Boehne, and Karen Sipe. This beginner presentation group will be asked to present vocabulary related to Social Networking, Collaboration, and Communication through an explanation of what these are and sharing classroom examples.
- A site we might be able to use for this http://sites.google.com/site/elearningwithweb20/

Attach your wikis to the http://adminlearning.wikispaces.com/. Ann is trying to build this site which is to be open to everyone--not just Tienet people.

SAS is going to be a new SAS (Standards Aligned Systems). The "statewide curriculum" which is optional by law because we are a commonwealth--not a state. One of the new parts is materials and resources. Should be able to click on a student's PSSA results and it will link to resources the students needs to use to improve their scores. District needs to belong to EDHUB. Hoping it will be up and running by December 2009. Intervention and resilency piece is still being developed. The assistant superintendents are being notified about this.

Next meeting (11/17/09) : TieNet presenters will present their sessions the next meeting.
